Web Olympics
There’s always some yelling back and forth in the office regarding who can run, swim, throw, spit or whatever else the best. So we decided to start the Web Olympics. A series of events to measure each others (dis)abilities. Events will be held during lunch time, entry fee is $1, winner takes all.
Today was the first event, the “Baseballs Throw”.
Every participant got three chances to throw a softball as far as he could. Distance was measured from starting line to point of impact with a special measuring device that Hoopert (Sole Technology’s building supervisor) let us borrow. We used plastic knifes to mark where our balls landed. Unfortunately the field we went to was soaking wet, but that didn’t stop us from having fun.
Baseballs Throw Results
- dude: 224′11″
- apple: 167′03″
- craps: 163′08
- weebers: 157′01″
- c00ler: 155′08″
Dude clearly 0wned us in this event. Next time a new event, we’re not sure what though. Maybe a 100meter sprint? If anybody has any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment.

Awesome. More companies should do this, and i don’t mean some lame “sports day”, but something relevant to the work they do. Like:
The Mouse Throw: similar to it’s big brother - the hammer throw - but using an old clunky PS/2 mouse instead.
Office steeplechase: really test those cornering speeds with strategically placed waterbottles as hurdles.
Pushathon: complete a set course fastest by pushing on a skateboard.
I’d like a forklift race. but eh, you guys don’t have forklifts.
