There’s always some yelling back and forth in the office regarding who can run, swim, throw, spit or whatever else the best. So we decided to start the Web Olympics. A series of events to measure each others (dis)abilities. Events will be held during lunch time, entry fee is $1, winner takes all.
Today was the first event, the “Baseballs Throw”.
Every participant got three chances to throw a softball as far as he could. Distance was measured from starting line to point of impact with a special measuring device that Hoopert (Sole Technology’s building supervisor) let us borrow. We used plastic knifes to mark where our balls landed. Unfortunately the field we went to was soaking wet, but that didn’t stop us from having fun.
Baseballs Throw Results
- dude: 224′11″
- apple: 167′03″
- craps: 163′08
- weebers: 157′01″
- c00ler: 155′08″
Dude clearly 0wned us in this event. Next time a new event, we’re not sure what though. Maybe a 100meter sprint? If anybody has any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment.

Germany will host the 2006 World Cup this summer. Since our company has a lot of international employees who take great pride in their national teams, etnies decided to do a World Cup series. They picked the Dublin, a soon to be released and totally awesome shoe, designed by Dennys Han.
The World Cup Series Dublin came out pretty cool. Except for one big mistake. They forgot the number two ranked country in the world.
You guessed it…The Netherlands. The favorites to win the World Cup! So after pulling a few strings I proudly present to you…

We recently launched the new etniesplus site. A super simple design was composed allowing these one-of-a-kind shoes to be shown without flashy useless marketing BS getting in the way.
Furthermore it was The Hot Crew’s first eCommerce project. Keeping the layout simple and clean allows for easy usability, a must for online shopping.
The one cool feature about the site is, that it’s fully scalable. Try enlarging the text in your browser (Windoze Quick Tip: hold down Ctrl and scroll your mouse wheel.) The only drawback is that the thumbnail images become a bit pixelated. We checked this on several platforms and screens and concluded that it was still good enough to use.
Enjoy the etniesplus Fall 05 collection.

Couple of months ago we signed up for the Fall edition of CSS Reboot. You should now be looking at our entry for this event.
Please note that there are two versions of the design! Since this site acts as a “business card” for Sole Technolgy’s Web department, the site will “turned off” at night. So whenever we are in the office, the site will be ON and feature a light color scheme. When we all leave, the site will be dark (but still legible ofcourse).
