Even though we are all Web nerds here at The Hot Crew, whenever a new skate magazine arrives we still fight over who gets to read it first. So we decided to take look at the magazines’ Web presence. It’s just a very simple technical test. We did not look into design, usability or content. Maybe we will do that next time.

Conclusion
Absolute worst: Skateboarder, it managed to crash our browser!
The clear winner is The Skateboard Mag. It has a few validation errors, but those should be very easy to fix. And if it also had an RSS feed, it would be the best site everrr. Come on John, get to it!

Ever wanted to highlight the current date selected when viewing monthly archives on your wordpress powered site? All the time, right? Us too. You’d think it’d be built into the default wp_get_archives function; but shah right - guess again. You know all it’ll take is a little css, but that damn PHP sits in your way.
You need a dude like dude who can create plugins on a moments notice. Since you too have this problem, you can download the plugin monthly-archives.zip and replace your wp_get_archives(’type=monthly’) with monthlyarchives($monthnum, $year, ‘active’) resulting in some real usability. Don’t forget to add .active {} to your css for all the control you could ever desire. It works nicely on ThirtyTwo:

We launched a renovated ThirtyTwo site, featuring the upcoming seasons’ boots. Thanks to sIFR we were able to adhere to Snikkul’s strict typography guidelines. Best part of the new site, every colorway can be selected to view a detailed image, as seen in the screenshot below.

“Want to design a solid website for your multi-sport brand? Don’t look to Quiksilver for inspiration, look to etnies. Their etnies sport-focused sites have the action sports world on lockdown. Smooth navigation, fresh content, and fun stuff, too.”–Sacklunch.
Thanks guys, you’re making us blush.

Randy “Snikkul” Pikul, our Pixel Princess here at The Hot Crew, has a serious problem. He couldn’t spell if his life depended on it. Of course, we forgive him because of his sweet design skills. And sure, my spelling isn’t the best either, but what do you expect, I’m Dutch! (Much props to Garry for correcting my typos in this post.)
So, today Snikkul discovered a spelling mistake on a tag that came with his new set of Accel shoes. I am so proud of him!
